The techniques for strengthening metals 1) grain size reduction When the grainsize reduces, the boundary area increases. Motion of dislocation is slow around adjacent grain atoms. there fore the Boundary area increases, speed of motion decreases Atomic disorder around boundary stops. finer grained of materials of the same kind are stronger and harder. 2) Solid solution alloying Increase concentration of impurities in metals, increase tensile strength, yield strength and hardness 3) strain hardening back to precold worked state 1) recovery internal strain energy relieved enhanced atomic diffusion at elavated temperature result in decrease in dislocation 2) recrystallisation rectangular shaped grains become free and equiaxed grain with low dislocation density 3)grain growth migration of grain boundaries at elevated temperature. I SHOULD JUS DROP DEAD AND DIE! :(
